The Iowa and Indiana Chapters of Riverside Iowa Paranormal investigated the dark wards of the Randolph County Asylum/Infirmary filled with spirits and a plethora of paranormal activity. Many residents of the historical building have never left and continue to make their presence known, both day and night.
The Randolph Asylum, built in 1899, served as a poor house, county home and infirmary. There is even a cemetery with at least 50 unmarked graves on the grounds where some former residents of the poorhouse were buried.
We have so much to be thankful for! For this event we did not be charge a typical admission fee. Instead we asked each person in attendance to bring a donation to help a family in need.
A Halloween experience you won't find at a haunted house. We investigated the entire Manor including: the nurses wing, "Bloody Hallway," and "Shadow Man Hallway." Help us uncover mysteries of the Captain, Gracie, the mirror lady, Hank and more!
This year Riverside Iowa Paranormal had the distinct Honor of having 6 locations in the World's Largest Ghost Hunt.
We celebrated the official National Ghost Hunting Day™ by being part of this Epic Event. This celebration introduced the world to the paranormal investigation experience. Paranormal enthusiasts of all levels (especially the novice!) were invited to experience what a true and authentic ghost hunt offers. Simultaneously taking place around the world, this event has been drawing thousands internationally to the spirit-seeking experience.
By participating live at the actual local event or via web live-streaming, thousands witnessed our purpose, whose core centers around community service to historic preservation. In addition, it elicits public awareness for para-psychology studies and traditional techniques in evidence collection. With this, we strive to get more people engaged in the paranormal phenomenon industry.
The six locations we represented were:
The Haunted Castle House - Brumley, Missouri
The Rock Island YMCA - Rock Island, Illinois
Edinburgh Manor - Scotch Grove, Iowa
Palo Verde Park Hohokam Ruins - Tucson, Arizona
Nevada State Prison - Carson City, Nevada
This amazing location originally built as a bunkhouse for railroad workers has also served as a hotel, school house, saloon, brothel, restaurant, music store, boarding house and antique store. Here is your chance to spend the night at a location featured on shows such as Ghost Lab, Ghost Hunters International and Fright Club with Jack Osborne.
We returned to investigate the elegant and “grand” Grand Opera House in Dubuque, Iowa.
For Scene III we will dug deeper into the history of the Grand Opera House which was built in 1889/1890 and opened on August 14, 1890. The Grand Opera House is now one of the top 10 Most Haunted Locations in the State of Iowa.
Edinburgh Manor a opened as “poor farm" in the 1800's. Almost a hundred workers died on the grounds and were buried in an eerie cemetery on the property. The poor farm was closed down, and a mental institution was built on the property in the early 1900s.
At this event we pay a visit to the notorious “Joker” and the other residents that call Edinburgh home.
Farrar School, the most haunted school in the sate of Iowa, was built in 1921 on six acres of rural farmland. Over the decades employees and students reported hearing voices, slamming doors and sightings of unnatural figures walking the halls. Adults and children have passed on and have returned and re-live their experiences, good and bad, in the school.
