investigations and events January - MAY 2021

Built in 1952 as the Broken Bow Nursing Home, it soon became a makeshift asylum. In addition to being a nursing home, the asylum has been many things over the years, including a trauma center and church. 

Riverside Iowa Paranormal had the honor of being a part of the Highland High School After Prom activities.  We worked with students to make mojo bags, discussed paranormal investigating equipment and offered free readings to the students.

Hotel Ottumwa is notoriously haunted. Guests have reported hearing strange noises, heavy breathing when no one is around, and even sightings of shadowy apparitions. Reportedly, the basement/former ballroom is haunted by a woman in a white gown, the halls are haunted by a man in a suit, and the face of a man has also been seen in the basement.

The Grand Opera House built in 1889/1890 and opened on August 14, 1890, with more than 800 people in attendance to view Bizet’s “Carmen”, is now one of the top 10 Most Haunted Locations in the State of Iowa. 

On March 20th, 2021, we held our first annual Paranormal, Psychic and Metaphysical Festival  at the Rock Island YMCA.  

Guests were able to visit with our amazing vendors which included Center of I Am, All Out Paranormal, Jewelry with TD, Ghost Crier, Silent Explorers, Alan Cornelison, and more.  They were also able to purchase psychic readings and Reiki Healing.  Following the festival there as an investigation of the Rock Island YMCA.

The Haunted Rock Island Y.M.C.A. has become a paranormal hot spot on Paranormal Researches Bucket List.  It has a mischievous past, including being a brothel, speakeasy, and has ties to the mob. There are many mysteries to be solved including:  Why did John Dickerson commit murder during his stay at they Y.M.C.A.? Who drown in the pool and why? What illegal dealings did John Looney and Helen Van Dale commit in the building? 

The Renwick Mansion is one of Davenports finest examples of Italian Revival Villa Architecture. One of the many unique features of this home is the large 4th story tower that overlooks the Mississippi River.

Our first visit of the Renwick Mansion, a location rich with history, elegance and beauty left us with many unanswered questions. Are there babies buried on the property? Was there a murder on the property? What is the story with the priest? What happened at St. Katharine’s School and St. Katherine’s Living Center?

  The Franklin Hotel, located in Strawberry Point, Iowa, established in 1902 for the purpose of bringing a modern hotel to the area to serve the growing community has a colored past. At one time the hotel served many railroad passengers, as well as travelers from the highways that run past the hotel.

  The Historic McDonald AirBnB has become a paranormal hot spot in the Attica area. The home is rich in history including ties to the Underground Railroad and Native Americans. Most intriguing is its concealed past, including a suicide, or was it a murder?  Guests have had many paranormal experiences, including being touched, hearing disembodied voices, EVP’s and much, much more!
